We are in the midst of a social and environmental emergency that has its roots in our dependence on dirty fossil fuels. Skyrocketing energy prices have turned the cold and hot weather into a real threat for households. People are having to choose between paying their bills or putting food on the table. At the same time, governments are spending billions on fossil fuel projects to make up for energy shortages. 

We need to learn from our past mistakes. We need EU institutions and national governments to step up and future proof our homes. 

Through a combination of cheap loans and grants we can make our homes energy efficient and sustainable. We can ensure that people never have to shoulder the burden of our reliance on fossil fuels again.
