Action Oct 2022: MEP video share - Unlock

Ask your MEP to choose people over the banking sector

The banks are lobbying to kill the EU’s one shot at reducing climate emissions from poorly insulated and energy inefficient homes.

The EU Parliament has set up a committee to review the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) that is looking into increasing energy efficiency of homes in the EU. By one estimate, 40% of energy consumption in the EU comes from homes, the majority of which can be reduced through deep renovations.

To make that possible for all, banks could be forced to provide more loans for home energy efficient renovation. But banks are pushing some MEPs to drop the specific article that ensures this support.
