Europe’s biggest problems today – the rapidly increasing cost of living, war, and the environmental breakdown – all have their root in our dependence on fossil fuels.
A combination of loans, grants and regulations will put the right incentives in place to drive demand for home retrofitting, lift millions out of energy poverty and ease the cost of living, end funding for violent dictators and ensure a stable and sustainable future for all of us.
We need a huge expansion of coordinated intervention from EU institutions and financial regulators to unleash a massive wave of green housing renovation across Europe and unlock the EU’s energy independence.
The clock is ticking but it’s not too late. Join us in calling on EU institutions to unlock greener homes!
Unlock Energy Independence
Renovating and electrifying homes across Europe would result in a €15 billion reduction in foreign gas imports in 2030 and a €43 billion reduction in 2050.
Reducing gas demand would reduce heating bills for households by around €1100 a year, significantly improving the quality of life for approximately 80 million people.

Our homes currently have huge carbon footprints and are increasing our reliance on foreign gas supplies. In the future, they can be part of the solution for a greener and more peaceful Europe.
